Maison d'Aquitaine is a superbly renovated authentic Ile de Ré townhouse. Nestling behind a row of lime trees just opposite the 15th century fortified church, it was probably originally built for use by the clergy. The house has been lovingly restored by local craftsmen and boasts many of the features typically found in the older island properties: terracotta tile floors, exposed beams, stripped floorboards and decorative wood panelling.
